Currently, I am not engaged in evaluation of songs. Shortly, however, I will be offering a per song evaluation from writers trying to hone their craft. |
Music has been created since life began. Many times I'm sure you've heard a
song that sounded similar to another. In my experience, 95% of similarities
happen because; in this vast, populated world, we sometimes have similar tastes,
similar experiences, access to the same news, watch the same television shows,
go to the same movies, read the same stories and internet e-mails that circulate.
All are good "idea makers" for those who are creative. Example: When "Joe the Plumber" became an icon during the recent 2008 presidential campaign, many writers I know considered writing a tune about it. I was just one of the many in Nashville alone, that had the idea. Because many songs have similar titles, lyrics, ideas, melodies and feels, it can get a bit "sticky" when offering help to writers who would like their songs evaluated. For this reason, I work only with serious writers, not weekend warriors and ask that any persons wishing to have their song evaluated do the following: 1. Copyright the work prior to sending. Go to: www.copyright.gov/. Retain a copy of the lyric, melody or both with the date the work was finished. 2. Send the following: NAME - ADDRESS - E-MAIL ADDRESS - PHONE NUMBER - CD copy of the song (or songs), LYRIC SHEET(s). Include with those items a check for $10.00 per song to: STEVE WILLIAMS - P.O. Box 148308 - Nashville, TN. 37214. 3. Send notice to me of the evalutation request being sent to: Steve@SteveWilliamsSongs.com (this so I check the p.o. box and act quickly to your request) You will receive the evaluation via e-mail. Please allow six to eight weeks for evaluation to be completed and returned. CDs and lyric sheets will not be returned unless otherwise requested. If you wish to have your items returned please include a mention of that fact and an extra $5.00 per song for shipping charges. I will promise to be open and honest in my evaluation.
